A coach plays different things in life like in the case of football coaches, but here I refer to someone who walks alongside you, asking relevant and leading questions to discover your strengths and propel you to achieve more within your area of desire. Some have given them various names such as mentors, spiritual parents, and best friends whose sharing and aspirations help us to achieve more in life.

Of course, I have had several people who have been playing this role in my young life, school life, training, and even work life. I sincerely appreciate them all for that and I still need their support. Last week, I registered in a program with a professional coach on something that I saw made a lot of sense and I needed to see something happening. I have always wanted to see something happening but didn’t know how to go about it. The first session was introductory but intense. The Coach was to the point and needed to see results.

One statement caught my attention “I want to see you people succeed and that is my joy. I don’t joke with my clients because I know your success is my success.’ This opened my eyes to see the commitment that we needed to put into all this exercise. This may not be the case when you are talking to a friend or a relative. As for me I took it seriously and desire such for many of us. The journey has started, and I look forward to a fruitful engagement and fruitful exercise.

I got a few lessons for myself:

1. Don’t despise the things that you have gone through in life. God uses every situation and brings a great mix that will be needed one day one time to fulfill something special in our lives.
2. The people we have interacted with, our parents, spiritual leaders, and friends have played a role of a coach, and mentor, in some way and we need to thank them for their great input to make us what we are today.
3. There is a great need for Coaches and mentors in different facets of life. We cannot afford to procrastinate and expect to have deliverables that will give us fruitful lives. It is not possible. Do you want to get serious about something that you may not have the know-how about it? Education may not be enough though it plays a substantial role. Get a coach, and mentor, and walk the journey together. It can be your friend or someone you know who can do a good job in that area of course with some training. Hopefully, you will get a good one. This is the joy of life. No straight line about it but one block builds on the previous and life continues.
